Instructions
First Step: Prepare Main Ingredients
The first thing to do for preparing the ingredients is to cut the chicken breast in a perfect way. Try to make 2 cm to 2.5 cm cubes with chicken breasts. You can also use chicken thighs for this recipe. Avoid making very large or very small pieces.
Rice cake is an optional ingredient. You can avoid using rice cake. But I would recommend you use this ingredient. It adds a chewy texture to the dish. You need to slice the rice cake cubes.
Besides these two ingredients, prepare the other ingredients too. Finely chop the garlic, parsley leaves, and onion spring. Cut the cheese into small pieces or you can grate it too. Try to cut the cheese in a way that it gets melted easily.
Second Step: Make Buldak Sauce
Buldak Sauce is one of the main ingredients of Korean Fried Chicken with Cheese. In a large mixing bowl, take 1/2 a cup of Gojuchang Chilli paste. It is a fermented Korean chili paste. You can buy it from an online store. Add all the other ingredients for Buldak Sauce to the Gojuchang.
These ingredients are 1 tablespoon Paprika, 2 teaspoons Chilli Powder, 1 tablespoon Gochugaru Pepper Flakes, 2 tablespoons Brown Sugar, ½ Cup Soy Sauce, 1 teaspoon Onion Powder, 1 teaspoon Ground Pepper, ½ Cup Hot Sauce, ½ Cup Rice Syrup, 1 tablespoon Vegetable Oil. Rice Syrup is an optional ingredient in Buldak Sauce. Mix them well. You will find a fine paste texture to Buldak Sauce.
Third Step: Coat the chicken
Place your chicken cubes in the mixing bowl. Coat the pieces with Buldak sauce. When you are finished covering the chicken pieces with the sauce, go to the next step.
Fourth Step: Saute Rice Cake
In the first step, you sliced the rice cake cubes. Now place a frying pan on the stove and let it heat for 3 minutes. Then place all the rice cake slices on the pan and saute them for 5 minutes. When you see the rice cakes turning golden brown, take the pan off the stove. Set the sauteed rice cake slices aside.
Fifth Step: Cook the chicken
In a large flat pan, take the chicken and Buldak sauce mixture. Turn the stove on. Let it cook for 5 minutes. While cooking, stir the chicken and sauce mixture continuously. Now, pour one cup of water into the pan and close the lid. This will make the spices cover the chicken more preciously. Let the spices soak in water for 3 minutes. After 3 minutes, open the lid and stir again. Stir and cook it again for 3 minutes. Then turn off the stove.
Sixth Step: Oven bake with cheese
Put the cooked Korean fried chicken or cheese Buldak on a serving pan. Put the cheese cubes and sauteed rice cake slices on the spicy chicken. Place it in a microwave or grill oven. Set the timer for 5 minutes. Let the juicy cheese melt. When the cheese has melted and turned golden brown, take it away from the oven. Your Cheese Buldak, or Korean Fried Chicken with Cheese, is ready to serve!
Seventh Step: Serve
Spread a pinch of black pepper, chopped onion spring, and parsley leaves on the dish. Serve and enjoy it with family and friends.
